Zedekiah, the last king of Judah, played a pivotal role in the nation’s downfall as recorded in 2 Kings and the book of Jeremiah. Zedekiah was appointed king by Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon after the exile of Jehoiachin. Although he reigned for 11 years, his leadership was marked by disobedience to God, disregard for prophetic counsel, and poor decisions that led to the destruction of Jerusalem.
The Bible describes Zedekiah as an evil king who "did what was evil in the sight of the Lord" (2 Chronicles 36:12). He ignored repeated warnings from the prophet Jeremiah, who urged him to submit to Babylon as part of God’s judgment on Judah for its sins. Instead of following God’s plan, Zedekiah rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar by aligning with Egypt, hoping for military support. This rebellion provoked Babylon to act decisively.
Jeremiah continually warned Zedekiah that rebellion against Babylon would result in Jerusalem’s destruction. Zedekiah, however, lacked the courage to listen to Jeremiah fully. His officials pressured him to reject Jeremiah’s advice, accusing the prophet of discouraging the people. Despite consulting Jeremiah secretly, Zedekiah vacillated and ultimately chose resistance, reflecting his fear of his officials rather than faith in God.

The siege caused a severe famine in the city, leaving the people in desperate conditions. The devil first tempted Jesus to turn stones into bread, appealing to His hunger after fasting for forty days and nights. The devil urged Jesus to use His divine power to satisfy His immediate physical need. However, Jesus responded by quoting Scripture: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”. Jesus resisted the temptation, choosing spiritual nourishment over physical satisfaction, showing that obedience to God is more important than material needs.
Next, the devil took Jesus to the pinnacle of the temple in Jerusalem and challenged Him to throw Himself down, arguing that God would protect Him by sending angels to save Him. The devil misquoted Scripture, suggesting that Jesus could test God’s promises. Jesus replied, “You shall not tempt the Lord your God”. Jesus refused to put God to the test, demonstrating that true faith does not require reckless actions to prove God’s power.
Finally, the devil showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and promised 'copied from e x a m p l a z a . c o m free' to give Him authority over them if Jesus would worship him. The devil offered Jesus worldly power and glory in exchange for allegiance. Jesus firmly rejected this temptation, saying, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve”. On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.
As the disciples spoke, a crowd gathered outside, drawn by the noise. People from various nations and languages were amazed to hear the disciples speaking in their own languages, proclaiming the wonders of God. The crowd was bewildered, wondering how Galileans could speak their languages.
